The demonstration organised by Argos, under the banner "Enough is Enough”, marched to the Anastasia Beach Hotel - where two staff members are accused of throwing a tiny dog into a garbage crushing machine.
There were several angry scenes between the Tsokkos hotel management and demonstrators, with a large police presence both at the hotel entrance in the street outside.
The crowd shouted "shame on you" as Tsokkos Director Tasoula Tsokkou stood filming them on a mobile device.
Green party MP George Perdikis was amongst the demonstrators.
"The hotels and their owners have to respect animal rights, this demonstration is just the beginning - In Cyprus things are changing," Perdikis told FG.
The dog, named Billy, received horrific injuries in the hotel garbage crusher, before being pulled from the machine by horrified tourists.
“We were expecting an apology from the owners, all we got were scowls and them photographing us – as if we are the criminals,” one demonstrator said.
